It was Sunday when I received a call from my neighbor, who asked me to help drive our a roe deer goat, with her two fawns, before the farmer started mowing the grass of his meadows. Of course I wanted to help!

Armed with camera and a poking stick, we walked the meadow in a (not-so) straight line to drive out mom with her two fawns, hoping the goat would take her two youngs with her. That didn’t happen. When mother roe deer noticed us, she left and the fawns decided to trust their camouflage. This meant we had to walk the complete meadow in a line to make sure the fawns left the part which had to be mowed.

In the end, we had seen fawns but couldn’t tell whether it was both or just one of the two.. Farmer cut his meadow but left certain patches of long grass to make sure mother and fawns could hide during the day.

Jumping forward to some days after; I received a video of both the mother roe deer and her two fawns, walking the cut grass. Family is doing fine now!
