I have been to this forest on two previous occasions, but despite the frequent sightings of this particular tawny owl (which were shared on waarneming.nl), I was unable to locate it. The forest is characterized by a long street lined with tall trees, making it quite challenging to find this tawny owl. Interestingly, upon closer observation, I realized that owls, despite my initial perception of them being large birds, are actually quite small. Reflecting on my first attempt, I now realize that I didn’t venture far enough. During my second visit, I narrowly missed encountering the owl because I was in the right area, and this time, I nearly overlooked the owl once again.
Just as I was about to walk back to the car, I looked up one last time and found myself eye to eye with this exquisite creature. The thrill of discovering owls never fails to captivate me!
